The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department has been very active in ensuring the success of the SII initiative and driving a culture of continuous improvement in the various departments. Since the inception of the programme 17 ideas have been recorded. Out of this number, 5 have been implemented.
The ICT department has modified some ideas from other departments to enhance the improvements. A classic example is the Logistics Warehouse Labeling system which was originally supposed to use a specialized printer but was redesigned to use an existing standard printer.
The Department is currently employing a plant wide electronic network environment upgrade. This necessary, lengthy and very involving process, will build the required foundation for bringing into fruition most of the approved suggestions. The new features to enhance the SII programme include and ICT Helpdesk, iSeries Reports Hub, and System Improvement and Innovation Portal.
